David created the Strasbourg Business English Meetup group in Summer 2015. The idea is to bring professionals together to speak English in a small group and to make new contacts.
The subject of each meeting varies according to world events or so as to cater for participants’ suggestions. The meeting is aimed at all those who use English in a professional context, for example, when videoconferencing or when preparing for a job interview. The recommended minimum CEFR level is A2.
The meeting is organised on different days at a frequency of 1-2 times a month. The group size may be limited to 7-8 people at each meeting and (free) registration is required on the meetup.com website. The advantage of registering is that you can see who else is coming and receive e-mail notifications about any last-minute changes. As usual, you just pay for any food or drink you order.
Although a business meeting can sound quite daunting, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal, so don’t be scared to try it out! Feel free to make any suggestions regarding the venue and content for future “meetups”.
Previous “meetups” have included a summer picnic and a game of “boules” and have tackled the topics of Brexit, Euro 2016 and carrot cake!
The event is organised by David in his personal capacity. See the meetup.com website for the relevant terms and conditions.
Hope to see you soon!
